NUS Faculty of Law congratulates our alumnus, Lucien Wong ’78 on being the first local lawyer to be awarded the Chambers Global 2007 prize for outstanding contributions to the legal profession.

NUS Law alumnus Lucien Wong ’78 was conferred a Special Award at the Chambers Global Awards 2007 event in London. The Special Award was one of only two Awards conferred on individuals for their contributions to the legal fraternity. He is notably the first local lawyer to be honoured at this annual global awards ceremony for lawyers.

Lucien read law at the University of Singapore from 1974 to 1978 and graduated
joint top of his graduating class with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in 1978.

Lucien was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1978 and has been in legal practice since that time. He joined Allen & Gledhill as a partner in 1987 and has been Managing Partner of Allen & Gledhill since 1998. He specialises in banking, corporate and financial services work.

Chambers Global cited Lucien as “a hugely gifted corporate and financial services lawyer with a portfolio of cases that includes some of the most notable and high-profile transactions of recent years” and “a lawyer who has shaped the very structure of legal practice in his own country.”
