Brief Biodata

Wing Cheong joined the NUS Faculty of Law in 1993. His research interests lie in criminal law and family law which in recent years have extended to child law, victims of crime and elder law. He is a regular speaker at conferences and forums on criminal law and family law.

Wing Cheong contributes his expertise to the wider community in different capacities. He has been, at various times, a member of the Elder Protection Team, the Maintenance of Parents Tribunal, the Board of Visitors of Childrenís Homes, the Inter-Ministry Committee on the Convention on the Rights of the Child, Ethics Review Committee of the Health Promotion Board, and the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme Committee. He was also a mediator in divorce cases with the Family Court for several years and was most recently appointed an Adjudicator for Structured Products by the Financial Industry Dispute Resolution Centre Ltd (FIDReC). He was awarded the Ministry of Community Developmentís Outstanding Volunteer Award in 1999 for his public service as a Gazetted Volunteer Probation Officer.
